Cats

OUR VERY SPECIAL CATS!!!!  Can you even imagine the good fortune of certain cats landing in the very midst of two floors of busy shop and living quarters as well?

Just the hiding and lurking places…oh, what a cat heaven!!!  Our very first shop cat, Tom,  wandered in from the outside alleyways in 1975, and shared himself faithfully every day until Feb. 13, 1990.

Margie, bereft of her loss of Tom, went to a neighborhood pet shop, and this one tiny kitty just kept grabbing onto her fingers and nipping and “speaking to her”.  So this purchased kitty was named Malachi, a pure Maine Coon with magnificent long hair.  He was handsome, and knew it, sauntering around with his gorgeous tail straight up in the air.

 Then, in August, 1997, tiny, emaciated little Millie was found in the front garden.  In her recovery, she just happened to swallow about a half spool of thread, and about departed this life….but she had nine lives.  Millie recovered, as Margie was instructed to snip the thread every 2” as it was passed through, and months later, Millie began to grow….and grow….and grow, until today, she is the biggest fattest cat we have ever had.  For a while, both Malachi and Millie shared the shop floors, with Malachi in charge at all times.

    Almost as if ordained or on cue, when Malachi passed on, Margie opened her front door one day in August, 2002, and here was this small, lovely, incredibly soft mother cat nursing her four kittens right there at the door, as if “told to do so” by those in cat heaven.  So……..Margie found homes for all four kitties, and Delilah entered our lives.  And what an entry!!!  She has the softest fur you have ever petted, and the most unique Jade eyes we have ever seen.  Millie has not welcomed Delilah into our midst, so Millie took to the upstairs, and Delilah now reigns supreme in the lower two floors of the shop.
