Welcome to Margie's Country Store on the web! -------"good for my soul"
Margie’s Country Store will celebrate its 38th anniversary of doing business on May 4, 2007. A classic, completely preserved 1850 butcher shop with “proprietor’s quarters” has served as the headquarters store, surrounded over the years by multiple stores on each side, in an adjoining Trolley Barn to the east and a quaint 1827 white cottage to the west. All other outlets have been divested, with the white cottage to the west now serving as a complete classroom sewing center upstairs and main floor. The entire City of Madison, on the Ohio River, has been registered as a National Historical Landmark!! Margie’s is just three blocks north of the riverfront.
It's time to set those clocks and come shop!!
Margie’s Country Store offers fabrics, patterns, creative ideas, and notions upstairs, along with an incredibly charming cellar gift and accessory shop, complete with rounded river-stone archways. Margie Webb, owner, has gained national recognition over the past ten years for her delightful designs of jackets, vests, and coats. She is currently the author and co/author of no less than six books on the market, and a day hardly goes by that ladies don’t pause long enough to get autographs. The entire shop serves as a regional center for a wide range of fabric choices, and is now visited by travelers from the Upper Midwest to the near south and from surrounding cities of Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati.
Many women’s groups travel in tandem to shop Margie’s, and husbands are often “instructed” to detour off nearby highways to make their way for pilgrimages to this “mecca of materials”. Margie’s Country Store is renowned for their personal cheer, ready assistance and guidance, and personable kindness to any and all who enter here. No less than five of the staff have been with Margie for at least seventeen years, and all are highly trained in all techniques necessary to create one’s own wardrobe, which will “turn every eye” when one enters a public place.
Wonderful Quilts to Use Up Scraps.
Time and again, comments about the “peace and tranquility” of the shop, about the “friendliness” of the staff, and about the “dramatic color and presentation” are overheard.

Many women comment on the uniqueness of the shopping experience in this day and age, and that trips to Margie’s are “good for my soul”.
